How to Protect Your FiveM Server from DDoS Attacks and Exploits
Why is security important in FiveM?
FiveM servers can be targeted by DDoS attacks (aimed at overloading the network to take the server down) and exploits (players abusing vulnerabilities to gain unfair advantages or damage the server). Implementing proper security measures is essential to ensure stability and a fair gameplay experience.
1. Anti-DDoS protection included at BairesHost
- All our servers come with Anti-DDoS protection over 10Gbps.
- This ensures malicious traffic is automatically filtered before it reaches your server.
2. Configure firewall and network rules
- Restrict unnecessary ports and keep only the FiveM server port open (default 30120).
- Use
iptables
(Linux) or Windows Firewall to filter access.
3. Keep your server and scripts updated
- Always update to the latest artifacts version of FiveM.
- Use secure and trusted script sources, avoiding unverified downloads.
4. Use anti-cheat resources and monitoring
- Install a reliable anti-cheat to block common exploits.
- Monitor your server logs to detect suspicious activity.
5. Frequent backups
- Schedule automatic backups of your server and database.
- Store backups securely, either externally or in the cloud.
Additional tips
- Enable 2FA (two-factor authentication) on your Cfx.re account and on your client panel.
- Do not share VPS/Dedicated access unless necessary.
- Create limited-permission users for collaborators.
